Brisbane Airport to Cooroy, Gympie and Beyond
The stunning Northern Sunshine Coast Hinterland makes for a stunning holiday amongst rolling green hills and lakes.
Gympie is home of the Music Muster and picturesque Mary Valley and Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island are all on the doorstep, making this another popular destination with our clients.
On your arrival in Brisbane our driver will be waiting for you with a sign at the bottom of the stairs in the domestic terminal or the arrivals hall (after customs and immigration) at the international terminal. The driver will assist with the luggage and point out the amenities available you may require.
It is then a short walk to the vehicle and we will be on our way with you secure in either a Lexus or Audi luxury sedan (or Kia Carnival people mover for up to 7 passengers and luggage).
Sights along the way
Out of the airport and onto the Gateway Motorway, the two lane motorway takes us past Nudgee and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and we join the Bruce Highway at the Pine Rivers Bridge.
The three lanes of the Bruce Highway carry us out past Forrest Lakes, Burpengary and when past the Bribie Island/Caboolture turnoff it is back to two lanes for the run North.
The highway allows glimpses of the Glasshouse Mountains (named by Captain Cook) and you can almost reach out and touch Wild Horse Mountain amongst the pine forest!
We reach the Cooroy turnoff after 115kms and enter the pleasant town of Cooroy with its rich timber and farming history. Cooroy is our gateway to Pomona, Kin Kin, Tewantin, and the wider Noosa hinterland if that is where our journey takes us.
Travel time to Cooroy in normal traffic is 1hr 40 minutes.
If we are continuing North to Gympie and beyond , we stay with the Bruce Highway (which goes through to Cairns).
Cooroora Mountain at Pomona dominates the landscape. 50kms (and 40 minutes) after Cooroy we arrive at the old gold mining centre of Gympie. You will be taken to your final destination and assisted with your luggage to the door.
Further east are Rainbow Beach and Tin Can Bay which are also serviced.
Destinations such as Maryborough, Fraser Island terminals and Hervey Bay are also serviced.
Notes about travel times
Peak hour traffic Northbound is from approx. 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and from 2.30pm Friday. The traffic delays are from the airport to Bribie island/Caboolture turnoff and it is free flowing from there. Allow another 30 minutes travel time during the week and 50 minutes Friday during these peak times.
Peak hour traffic Southbound is from 5.30am to 8.30am weekdays and is in the same area as Northbound afternoon delays. Allow a further 30 minutes travel. The big exception to Southbound is Sunday afternoon (or Monday of a long weekend) when traffic congestion starts as early as Caloundra turnoff and continues for the journey right through to Bribie Island/Caboolture turnoff. This can add well in excess of 1 hour to the journey.
The office will be aware of any roadwork or local delays (caused by school traffic or events) which may have a further bearing on travel times and adjust pickups to the airport accordingly.
You will be advised of any known delays through the booking process.
